Depotcharge Raises €2.7 Mn to Expand Shared EV Charging Network for Electric Trucks

The funding round was led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), with participation from xdeck Ventures, Kopa Ventures and Prequel Ventures. Business angels from the logistics, electric mobility and energy sectors also joined the round.

As part of its expansion, Depotcharge has partnered with BGL e.V. to launch BGL Charge, a shared charging network for Germany’s road freight industry.

Depotcharge helps logistics companies share unused charging capacity at their depots with other electric truck fleets. This allows charging points that are not being used at certain times to serve other operators, reducing the need for drivers to rely on more expensive public charging stations.

Depotcharge’s platform connects unused charging capacity at logistics depots and turns it into shared charging networks for electric truck fleets.

Depot operators can decide their own prices, access rules and charging availability. Depotcharge handles the rest, including access control, invoicing and payments.

The platform works independently of charging hardware, software systems and vehicle manufacturers, making it easier for different operators to use the network.

Through BGL Charge, logistics companies can make unused charging points available to other fleets and also access charging infrastructure from other participating depots. BGL Charge manages marketing, access, billing and payments, while depot operators remain in control of their pricing and availability.

Depotcharge will use the new funding to improve its platform and expand into international markets.

The company also plans to connect charging more closely with transport planning and dispatch systems. This will include features such as charging reservations, open interfaces and integrations with existing transport management software.
