Two Visionaries Build A Healthtech Startup Curifylabs, Changing the Future of Personalized Medicine
Jun 3, 2025 | By Kailee Rainse

In 2021, two visionary founders, Charlotta Topelius and Niklas Sandler Topelius, launched a health tech startup in Helsinki, Finland, called Curifylabs, with a goal to completely transform how personalized medicines are made in pharmacies and hospitals.
Traditionally, creating customized medicine for patients has been a slow, manual, and often inaccurate process. It requires a lot of time, effort, and attention to detail—it is something that pharmacists are used to, but it still leaves room for errors and inefficiencies.
Curifylabs is changing that. With smart automation and modern technology, they're building a solution that makes the compounding process faster, easier, and far more accurate.

From a Personal Story to a Big Idea
The idea for Curifylabs didn’t come from a lab—it started at home. Niklas Sandler, one of the co-founders, found inspiration through his mother, who is an experienced hospital pharmacist. Through her stories and daily challenges, Niklas saw firsthand how difficult and outdated the process of personalized medicine preparation really was.
His mother would often talk about how time-consuming the work was and how the process didn't always meet each patient's needs. For Niklas, this sparked a realization: there was a gap in the healthcare system, and technology could help fix it.
Together with Charlotta, who shared his passion and vision, Niklas decided to take action. They combined their academic backgrounds, pharmaceutical research experience, and innovative thinking to launch Curifylabs and solve a real-world problem.
Technology Meets Compassion
Charlotta and Niklas dove deep into research. They wanted to understand exactly what was needed to improve pharmaceutical compounding. Their exploration led them to 3D printing and automation, technologies that had revolutionized other industries but were still underused in medicine preparation.
They saw the potential to bring these tools into hospitals and pharmacies, not just to make the process faster but to make it more reliable and personalized for every patient.
With this vision in mind, Curifylabs began building smart tools like the Minilab and PharmaKit, which help automate and simplify the medicine preparation process.
What they've achieved is nothing short of remarkable. Their solution doesn't just improve the process—it redefines it, offering a safer, more accurate, and more efficient way to deliver customized medicine.

Solving a Real Problem with a Real Impact
What makes Curifylabs stand out is not just the technology—it's the purpose behind it. Charlotta and Niklas aren't just building products; they're solving a problem that impacts the lives of patients and the daily routines of pharmacists and healthcare workers around the world.
Their main mission is to automate the outdated manual process, ensure safer and more accessible personalized treatment, and boost the efficiency and quality of medicine preparation in healthcare settings.
Their belief in this mission has already led to huge milestones. In their latest funding round, Curifylabs raised €6.7 million, bringing their total secured funding to around €17.6 million. This funding will help expand their reach, improve their technology, and take their products to a global market.
Building the Future of Healthcare
Curifylabs is pushing forward with new and exciting projects—most notably, the development of RoboPharma, a high-tech solution designed to bring even more automation into personalized medicine.
They're also expanding their team, partnering with leading hospital groups, and continuously improving tools like the Minilab and PharmaKit.
But the bigger dream is still ahead. The founders want to bring their solution to every hospital, making it possible for medicines to be created instantly, on the spot, tailored exactly to what each patient needs.
In the long run, they aim to eliminate manual medicine manufacturing and replace it with smart, efficient systems.
Personal Observation To Multimillion Euro Company
What started as a personal observation has grown into a multimillion-euro company that's making a real difference. Charlotta and Niklas took a leap of faith and built Curifylabs — a movement toward smarter, safer, and more personalized healthcare.
With technology, compassion, and a clear purpose, this Finnish health tech company is setting a new standard, shaping the future of personalized medicine.
