About Getaround

The goal of the first linked carsharing marketplace in the world is to enable carsharing everywhere. We designed and constructed the Connect®, the first carsharing device in the world that lets users rent, locate, and unlock Getaround vehicles with the Getaround smartphone. Getaround is an online car-sharing or peer-to-peer car-sharing business that links car owners who are willing to lend their vehicles for a fee with drivers who need to make reservations. On May 24, 2011, Getaround made its public debut at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference. Getaround is a peer-to-peer platform that lets owners of automobiles rent out their vehicles.
