Cloover Secures €86.2 Mn Funding Facility as AI Energy Platform Turns Profitable

Berlin-based Cloover, an AI-powered energy platform for homes, has secured a new €86.2 million ($100 million) funding facility.

The company helps homeowners adopt solar panels, heat pumps, and other home electrification solutions.

Cloover also announced that it has become profitable just three years after launching. The company now has an annual revenue run rate of more than €301.7 million ($350 million).

Jodok Betschart, Cloover co-founder, said, “We reach households through the installers they already trust, and then we turn each of those homes into a power plant, and each homeowner into a participant in the energy market. That is a relationship that lasts for decades, not a single transaction.”

Gönczy, Cloover co-founder, commented, “Everything we do runs on AI, from the underwriting to the way we optimise energy in each home. The incumbents are adding AI to systems built decades ago. We can do in seconds what takes them days, and the gap widens as we scale.”

Cloover was founded in 2023 by Betschart, Peder Broms, and Valentin Gönczy. The company provides independent installers with financing, software, and energy products.

Instead of building its own sales team, Cloover has created an AI-powered platform that helps independent installers manage and grow their businesses.

Installers can continue using their own brand, keeping their customers, and choosing the equipment they want to install. They can offer products such as solar panels, heat pumps, and energy-efficient home upgrades.

Cloover also provides financing at the time of purchase, making it easier for homeowners to pay for energy upgrades without paying the full cost upfront.

Cloover says customers can receive a financing decision in less than two minutes, pay nothing upfront, and spread their payments over up to 25 years.
