Sep 23, 2026 | By Oliver Bennett

Belgian energy optimisation company CIOC Energy has raised €3 million from renewable energy developer CleverNett. As part of the deal, CleverNett has taken a minority stake in the company.
SUMMARY
- CIOC Energy raised €3 million from renewable energy developer CleverNett.
- CleverNett has taken a minority stake, while CIOC Energy will remain independent.
- The funding will support team expansion and help CIOC Energy trade directly in energy markets in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Romania.
CIOC Energy will continue to operate as an independent company following the investment.
Alexander De Bièvre, CEO of CIOC Energy, said "the company encountered these challenges through its experience selling batteries. We sold batteries ourselves for years, so we know exactly how fast things can go wrong when nobody's keeping watch. Without constant follow-up, faults simply go unnoticed. And when something breaks down, everyone points at someone else: the installer doesn't know the software and the control system only carries out what the energy trader decides."
Founded in September 2023, CIOC Energy helps businesses manage their energy through one platform. The company allows users to monitor, control and trade energy generated from solar panels and stored in batteries.

CIOC Energy operates in a market where these services are often provided by different companies. Its platform brings solar installation, battery management and energy trading together, making it easier for businesses to manage their energy in one place.
CIOC Energy currently manages more than 100 business sites. Through CleverNett, it also manages around 2,000 home batteries used by private households.
Across these operations, the company manages more than 100 MWh of battery capacity and around 200 MWp of solar panels.
The new funding will help CIOC Energy expand its commercial and technical teams and build its own energy market access. This will allow the company to trade directly in energy markets across Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Romania.
