About Alexia & Margot:

Sisters Alexia and Margot de Broglie were raised by a single mother, and they completed their studies in economics and finance. From a young age, their mother taught them about finances.

Now let's begin the story and move towards her childhood, when Alexia was 10 years old.

One day,

Alexia’s mother said, “When you are older, you’re going to have this budget that you are going to have to follow.”

Alexia asked her mother, “Why don’t we start doing that now?”

Alexia's this question made her mother pause and consider. After that day, their mother taught them all about finance. Even so, they completed their education in economics & finance and became experts in the finance sector.

Was this the only reason they launched their finance sector startup?

 No

What issue they observed?

During the Covid-19 pandemic, markets crashed, and both sisters noticed a gender gap in the finance sector. At this time, their generation was very interested in the finance segment. They often discussed investments, crypto, and stocks with their friends in a whatsapp group chat.

But they noticed that there was a significant disparity in financial literacy between their male and female friends. Their male friends discussed investments, crypto currencies, and advanced financial topics, whereas a lot of their female friends asked more basic financial questions.

During this time, they realised why women were lagging in the finance sector. They noticed that this problem was not just in one country but all around the world. Determined to resolve this issue, the sisters made it their mission to empower women in finance.

What inspired the duo to launch their start-up?

Alexia and Margot both discovered more:

  • Women earn 14% less than men.
  • Only 30% of women are working in the finance industry.
  • Women hold less than 30% of leadership roles in finance.
  • Only 1.2% of startups receive funding from women.

After the overall research, one thing was clear in their minds: women are lacking in the finance sector, and we have to do something to empower women.

This was the time when they both realized that it was time to use our financial expertise to empower women. To boost their confidence, they both came up with an idea.

What was her idea?

The idea was simple: They would teach women and non-binary people all about personal finance in a very interesting and exciting way. To execute this idea, in 2021, both sisters launched a UK-based startup, Your Juno.
