SUMMARY

  • Narwhal Labs, a Bristol-based AI scale-up developing enterprise-grade autonomous communications infrastructure, has raised €22.9 million (£20 million) in funding from UK investors, including Jonathan Swann, former director of CFC Underwriting.

The company also announced the launch of DeepBlue OS, an autonomous communications platform designed to replace fragmented, human-led response systems with always-on agentic AI.

Narwhal Labs developed DeepBlue OS to manage the full lifecycle of communications, including inbound, outbound and ongoing interactions across voice, SMS, email, and WhatsApp through a unified agentic intelligence layer.

The system operates autonomously 24/7, handling enquiries, qualifying leads, booking appointments, chasing documents, routing requests, and executing follow-up workflows without human intervention.

DeepBlue OS is designed for complex and regulated sectors such as housing, financial services, insurance, government and retail. It also highlights a “Glass Box Architecture” that ensures every AI action is fully auditable, traceable, and explainable.

Unlike traditional enterprise AI systems that require heavy upfront investment and long deployment cycles, Narwhal Labs positions DeepBlue OS as a utility-style model, similar to electricity or broadband. Customers pay based on usage with no setup fees long-term contracts or minimum commitments.

The platform is built to be multilingual and multi-jurisdictional supporting more than 50 languages without requiring reconfiguration or redevelopment.

DeepBlue OS operates through three core agents an inbound agent that manages calls and appointment scheduling, a lead and case responder that delivers rapid multi-channel follow-ups within minutes of inbound activity, and an outbound agent that runs high-volume engagement campaigns to re-engage contacts and drive workflows at scale.

It also includes an agent builder with pre-configured templates, allowing organisations to customise workflows, and integrates via APIs with CRM, case management, and account systems.

Narwhal Labs claims the platform is among the few UK agentic AI systems certified under ISO 27001 and SOC 2, while also complying with standards such as GDPR, TCPA and OFCOM regulations.

The solution is available as both a native deployment and a white-label product for telecom operators, enterprise partners and platform providers seeking to embed agentic AI capabilities into their offerings.

Narwhal Labs says its goal is to make enterprise-grade agentic AI accessible across industries and organisation sizes through a scalable, usage-based model.

Luke Sartain, founder and CEO of Narwhal Labs, said, “Enterprise-grade AI should not be the exclusive preserve of organisations with eight-figure technology budgets and two-year implementation timelines. The level of backing we’ve seen reflects a growing recognition that this technology is no longer optional – it’s foundational to how organisations operate. The same autonomous infrastructure that a global financial institution needs to manage thousands of daily interactions is the same infrastructure a 20-person firm needs to stop missing calls.

“We built DeepBlue OS as a utility you switch it on, you pay for what you use, and it works. The security, compliance, and auditability that government and regulated enterprise demand are not optional extras. They are the foundation everything else is built on.”
