This is why, since the beginning of 2024, the leading cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has been implementing the Blockchain4Her project. This initiative aims to promote equal opportunities and support for women in the blockchain space helping bridge the gender gap and encouraging more female leadership in the world of Web3.

With 40% of its leadership team composed of women, Bitget frequently and proudly highlights the role of women in the tech industry and their influence in shaping the future of this field. However, a recent analysis by Bitget examining the funding disparities between male- and female-led blockchain startups reveals a significant gender gap in the tech ecosystem.

The findings, published in the report "Bitget Report :„Bitget Report: The Gender Gap in Blockchain Startup Funding” show that women-led blockchain startups have secured only 6.34% of the total funding in this sector.

In response to these challenges Bitget launched the Blockchain4Her program committing $10 million to drive change and reduce barriers for women in the Web3 space. This initiative aims to create a more equitable environment by supporting women-led projects, providing mentorship, and promoting gender diversity within the blockchain industry.

Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget and initiator of Blockchain4Her said, Women are increasingly engaging in technology but continue to face numerous obstacles and require support to break through the glass ceiling. who recently spoke at the United Nations on gender equality emphasizes the global significance of this initiative: Together we can take a step toward gender equality and effect change not only in the blockchain world but beyond. Only the clear voices and stories of women can inspire the world to transform. This underscores the importance of amplifying women's voices and experiences to drive meaningful change across various sectors.

Blockchain4Her is yet another initiative by Bitget aimed at promoting inclusivity equality and the advancement of Web3 technology. Previously, the company launched Blockchain4Youth, a project that embodies Bitget's core philosophy: spreading the principles of Web3 and inspiring young people to engage with blockchain and cryptocurrency technology.

To educate and support emerging leaders in the industry, Bitget has also allocated $10 million to this five-year initiative. Through these efforts the company shares its knowledge and resources, helping to drive a blockchain-powered future worldwide.

Blockchain4Her continues this philosophy of empowerment, offering multi-level support for women in the blockchain space. Through its ambassador program, global workshops, conferences, job fairs and mentoring sessions the project enables participants to gain critical skills and establish valuable connections.

To date, over 1,560 individuals have joined the program. The newest addition to Blockchain4Her is the “Pitch n Slay” initiative designed specifically for entrepreneurial women in the blockchain sector.

This project provides a unique opportunity to secure up to $100,000 in funding from Foresight Ventures, along with mentorship from seasoned industry leaders. Like other Blockchain4Her activities, “Pitch n Slay” directly tackles the issue of women’s underrepresentation in blockchain by delivering financial and business support essential for success in this competitive field.

An essential part of the Blockchain4Her project is recognizing women who inspire others and drive technological innovation. Alongside awards and scholarships the program provides support for Web3 projects enabling them to thrive within the blockchain ecosystem.

In the first edition of Blockchain4Her, awards were given in two categories: "Rising Female in Blockchain" for influential leaders and "Innovative Web3 Female Entrepreneur" for innovators in the Web3 sector. Honorees included Gesa Schneider, Rebecca Matsumura, Alexandra Nicorici and Maika Isogawa.

Gracy Chen said “In an industry advancing at such a rapid pace, diversity and inclusivity are essential for sustainable growth. Blockchain4Her aligns with our broader vision of creating a more equitable and inclusive future through the opportunities provided by blockchain technology”.
