SUMMARY

  • Zeelo, a smart bus platform based in London, has raised $23 million (around €19.83 million) in a Series B funding round led by Blue Earth Capital.

The round also included continued support from Direttissima Growth Partners and Peter Bauer’s family office, backing Zeelo’s long-term growth plans.

Kayode Akinola, Head of Private Equity at Blue Earth Capital, says, “Our Private Equity team is excited to partner with Zeelo on their mission to decarbonise and democratise access to transportation.”

“Zeelo’s ability to shift commuters from cars to shared bus trips and optimise routes delivers significant GHG reduction potential and supports our focus on efficiency gains, while their role in accelerating adoption of EVs in the shuttle market aligns well with our electrification theme, an important pillar towards decarbonisation.”

Zeelo, founded by Barney Williams and Sam Ryan, runs a Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS) model that blends AI-powered technology with local operator partnerships to deliver smarter, more efficient shared transport.

Its in-house routing software and transport management platform handle everything—from route planning to real-time incident response—automating the complex parts of shared mobility.

Zeelo serves frontline workers, corporate commuters, and students across thousands of routes, offering sustainable travel solutions. The company became profitable in its core markets, the UK and Ireland, where it manages both commuter and home-to-school transport.

Following its 2024 acquisition of Kura, Zeelo further strengthened its UK presence. It continues to partner with local transport operators and invest in fleet electrification to showcase the future of shared mobility.

In 2024 alone, Zeelo delivered over 7 million rides, with 10% of UK trips fully electric and the rest carbon offset.

Zeelo is committed to delivering sustainable and inclusive transportation for frontline workers and students around the world.

The new funding will be used to scale its AI-powered transport management platform, improve self-serve tools for customers and riders, and explore strategic acquisitions to grow its global presence.

Zeelo also plans to expand further across North America while strengthening its impact in the UK and Ireland.

Zeelo reports strong momentum in North America, with 175% year-over-year revenue growth. The company has also strengthened its leadership team this year, appointing Fraser Cameron as CFO and James Winn as Chief Revenue Officer, based in the Boston office.

Zeelo co-founder, Sam Ryan, says, “Our mission is to empower opportunity through sustainable transportation. With this new investment, we’re scaling our impact – delivering inclusive mobility programmes that not only reduce CO2 emissions and car dependency, but also connect people to work and education in areas not served by public transits.”

“Our proprietary tech platform and AI-powered operations are driving incredible ROI for customers, while our team continues to raise the bar for service quality. This capital gives us the resources to further integrate with industry partners, including operators, electric and autonomous vehicle providers, and to strengthen our market presence through focused go-to-market and acquisition strategies.”

Zeelo currently supports over 200 organizations across the UK, Ireland, and North America, with a team of 51–200 employees. The company has already completed over 12 million rides showcasing the scale of its operations.

With the fresh funding Zeelo plans to deepen partnerships with electric and autonomous vehicle providers, enhance its technology platform, and pursue strategic acquisitions to grow its global reach.

This investment comes at a high-growth moment for Zeelo, as it works to build “an infrastructure for opportunity” — driven by clean technology, strong operations, and a commitment to ensuring that transportation never holds anyone back.
