SUMMARY

  • Warsaw-based investment firm Montis VC has launched a new venture capital fund, reaching a €50 million first close to support Europe’s next generation of energy and IndustrialTech startups.

The fund is backed by a mix of public and private investors dedicated to advancing technological development across Europe. A key limited partner is the European Investment Fund (EIF), contributing through the REPowerEU programme.

Additional support comes from entrepreneurs and international family offices across Central and Eastern Europe. PFR Ventures has also joined the investor group, committing €10 million to the fund.

Montis VC says the €50 million first close marks the beginning of a broader fundraising effort, with plans to increase the fund’s capital in the coming months.

Montis VC was founded by the team behind Montis Capital and is led by managing partners Łukasz Dziekoński, Wojciech Szwankowski, and Michał Gawęda. The team recently expanded with Michał Baś, formerly of the pan-European VC fund Venture Friends.

Since 2019, the team has invested approximately €30 million across nine technology and industrial companies, including Micromobility Port, Fresh Inset, and Autofixer.

With Montis VC, the team is scaling up operations, adopting a more structured investment strategy, and leveraging an international partner network. The fund plans to make initial investments ranging from €0.5 million to €2 million, reserving half of its capital for follow-on rounds to support high-potential portfolio companies as they grow.

Montis VC emphasizes rapid execution and a founder-first approach, positioning itself as an active partner for startups. The fund helps founders refine strategy, expand internationally and prepare for future funding rounds.

Its global reach is strengthened by a network of venture partners, including Taavi Rõivas, former Prime Minister of Estonia; Tomasz Misiak, entrepreneur and Harvard Business School alumnus; and Bart Dujczyński, a renewable energy expert with extensive experience in Western Europe. These partners support Montis VC in building international relationships and helping portfolio companies scale globally.

The fund focuses on early-stage technology companies driving Europe’s energy and industrial transition, supporting solutions that enhance long-term economic competitiveness and promote sustainability. Montis VC seeks scalable projects with global potential, particularly those leveraging artificial intelligence to accelerate product growth and real-world impact.

Montis VC plans to invest in 20–25 startups at the pre-Seed and Seed stages, backing innovations that advance Europe’s energy and industrial transition and broaden the adoption of AI across the economy.

Łukasz Dziekoński, Partner at Montis VC, said, “Our goal is to deliver above-average investment returns while backing technologies that genuinely increase economic productivity. We are particularly interested in projects applying AI in sectors such as industry, energy and infrastructure. These are the areas where we see the strongest potential for building global technology companies from Europe.
