SUMMARY

  • Van Dorp, a family-run Dutch company from Zoetermeer focused on sustainable technical installations in buildings, is acquiring Lyv, a Dutch developer of batteries and energy management software.

This acquisition broadens Van Dorp’s energy services by adding storage and management technology. Lyv’s system stores unused energy for later use, helping reduce grid congestion a major challenge for new construction and business expansion.

Lyv, founded in 2016 by Brendan de Graaf, focuses on solving energy challenges like grid capacity and imbalance. Using its energy management systems (EMS) and batteries, Lyv helps businesses, parks, and homes balance energy use.

Their EMS works with various devices, controlling batteries, chargers, and boilers. It targets grid congestion, energy trading, and maximizing self-consumption.

Lyv supplies batteries from small systems to large installations and offers full project support, including installation and maintenance, with leasing options. Their tech serves carriers, real estate, farmers, and installers, providing full support for infrastructure needs.

After being acquired by Van Dorp, Lyv will keep its name and brand. With support from Van Dorp’s offices, Lyv will be able to offer services across the whole country. Founder Brendan de Graaf will become Technical Director and will collaborate closely with the Van Dorp team.

Brendan de Graaf says, "In Van Dorp, I’ve found a reliable partner who will help make the next phase of Lyv possible. Together, we can fully support customers with high-quality energy solutions that we design, install, and maintain. By joining forces, we can also offer a solution for grid congestion, both before and after the meter."

Martin ten Brummeler, MD of Van Dorp, adds, "Lyv is a fantastic addition to our installation company. With this partnership, we are expanding our energy management offering and offering customers practical solutions for smart energy use."

"This is important, especially now that the energy transition increasingly demands practical solutions for supply and demand. I look forward to the coming years and the opportunities this will bring us together."

Van Dorp, founded in 1985, is a family-owned company that designs, installs, and maintains technical systems in buildings. Starting as a small local business, it has grown into a nationwide service provider with 29 locations across the Netherlands and the Caribbean, employing 1,600 people.

The company focuses on long-term, sustainable solutions like energy-neutral buildings, emission-free transport, and efficient infrastructure for water, gas, electricity, charging stations, and public lighting. They also support industrial automation and process control.

Van Dorp invests in its people through the Van Dorp Academy, offering training in personal growth and sustainable tech. The Van Dorp Foundation donates at least 5% of annual profits to charities locally and internationally.
