  • Facing soaring electricity demand and long-term grid constraints, Dutch energy software startup Zympler has raised €1.5 million in Seed funding to help businesses manage their energy usage.

The round was led by Arches Capital, with co-investment from ROM Utrecht Region, through the Startup Innovation Fund supported by Utrecht Province and the ERDF.

Tom Selten, Co-founder, says, “With Zympler, you choose simplicity over complexity. It’s like a digital Chief Energy Officer for your company. We see companies getting bogged down in energy issues every day. Unfortunately, grid congestion won’t be solved in the next ten to twenty years.”

Founded in 2023 by Jorrit Salverda, Tom Selten, and Reinout de Jongh, Zympler provides a platform that intelligently links and manages energy assets, including solar panels, batteries, and EV chargers. Its behind-the-meter technology enables businesses to meet rising energy demands while easing grid congestion, controlling costs, and navigating infrastructure limits.

“The Zympler team is demonstrating true execution power and is technologically ahead of the market. Their behind-the-meter optimisation makes electrification possible for businesses struggling with grid congestion – a crucial piece of the puzzle in the energy transition,” said Lotte Smit van Ditshuizen, partner at Arches Capital.

Active at over 20 sites across the Netherlands, including TU/e campus and R. Nagel Transport, Zympler serves transport, logistics, energy, real estate, and installation sectors.

The platform helps businesses automate solar-based charging, coordinate solar and storage, and cut imbalance costs. Funding will expand users, strengthen partnerships, and support a sustainable, cost-efficient Dutch energy grid.

“Zympler combines technological innovation with direct social impact. Their predictive energy management system makes the electrification of processes, transportation, and real estate feasible and profitable – exactly what we need to accelerate the energy transition,” said Arjan van den Born, Director of ROM Utrecht Region.

The startup acts as a “digital Chief Energy Officer,” equipping companies with advanced optimization tools to navigate increasingly complex energy decisions with ease and efficiency.
