Apr 8, 2025 | By Startuprise

London-based Untamed, a UK-based cat food company,  has secured £10 million in Series B funding to expand its brand offering and global reach.

SUMMARY

  • Untamed started after a personal health scare involving a cat and now leads in high-quality, nutritious cat food. It addresses common concerns like poor ingredients, allergies, and special dietary needs.

New York-based Coefficient Capital has led a new funding round for Untamed, joining the cap table for the first time. Coefficient has previously invested in brands like Nom Nom (sold to Mars), Zoe, Koro, Oatly, and Just Spices.

Existing investor Five Seasons Ventures, known for backing Butternut Box and Yfoods, also took part, along with London-based Redrice, which returned after supporting Untamed’s Series A.

Untamed will use the funds to grow its direct-to-consumer subscription model, enter retail stores, and expand internationally. The UK cat food market is worth over £2 billion, and the EU market is over £10 billion.

With trends like premium pet food and the humanisation of pets on the rise, the global cat food market is projected to grow from $37 billion in 2024 to nearly $50 billion by 2033.

Founded in 2019 by Benjamin Spicer, Marco Pacifici and Lenny Cordell, Untamed started after a personal health scare involving a cat and now leads in high-quality, nutritious cat food. It addresses common concerns like poor ingredients, allergies, and special dietary needs.

Untamed has delivered over 50 million meals since launch. It became a certified B Corp in 2024, showing its commitment to ethical practices. The company also donates 1% of its revenue to environmental causes through the “1% for the Planet” initiative and is recognized by The Good Shopping Guide for its cruelty-free and eco-friendly approach.

Andrew Goletka, Managing Partner, Coefficient Capital, shared, "Untamed is redefining what it means to care for our pets — combining science, passion, and purpose in a way that truly resonates with today’s consumer.”
