SUMMARY

  • Firenze, a Manchester-based fintech specialising in Lombard lending, has announced an oversubscribed €6.8 million (£6 million) funding round aimed at doubling its team to meet growing borrower demand.

The round was led by AlbionVC, with continued support from existing investors including Outward VC and Form Ventures. This follows the company’s €2.8 million (£2.5 million) seed round just one year ago.

Founded in 2024 by serial entrepreneur David Newman Firenze was built on a mission to expand access to financial services. The company aims to bring investment-backed lending traditionally reserved for high-net-worth individuals to a broader audience.

Its proprietary embedded finance platform enables wealth managers to offer efficient lending solutions without requiring clients to sell or transfer their assets. This allows borrowers to access liquidity quickly often within 24 hours.

Lombard lending can serve a wide range of needs, from acting as an alternative to property bridging loans to helping families support major life events such as education, home purchases, or weddings.

In simple terms, Lombard lending is a short-term secured loan where borrowers use liquid financial assets such as stocks or bonds as collateral, allowing them to access cash while keeping their investments intact.

While Firenze is currently focused on serving mass affluent clients, its long-term vision is to democratise Lombard lending and make it accessible as a mainstream credit option.

The new funding will support Firenze’s expansion plans, including scaling its platform to more partners, broadening its product offerings, enhancing its SaaS solutions for banks such as launching an agentic credit structurer and entering new markets.

David Newman, CEO of Firenze, says: “The market demand for Firenze’s solution has exceeded our expectations and as a result our vision has got more and more ambitious. We, therefore, felt now was the right time to take on further capital to accelerate our plans.

“When seeking a partner to work with for this next phase of growth Jay and Albion stood out. I ultimately believe passion and trust are the two most important attributes when choosing a VC to work with and Jay & Albion have demonstrated that time and time again through the process of getting to know one another. We also feel honoured by the continued support of our existing investors who have shown ever growing enthusiasm for the momentum behind Firenze.”
