SUMMARY
- London-based Hytro, a brand specializing in blood flow restriction (BFR) wearables for training and recovery, has raised around £2M (€2.3M) in a new funding round.
The round was led by athlete-backed syndicates Joyned Capital and Skin In The Game.
New investors include footballers Jurrien Timber (Arsenal FC) and Quinten Timber (Feyenoord), along with NFL player Benjamin St-Juste (LA Chargers). They join existing athlete investors such as rugby star Sam Warburton, tennis player Cameron Norrie, and former Crystal Palace footballers Scott Dann and Martin Kelly.
Hytro recently secured a U.S. patent and is now preparing for international expansion. Its wearable BFR products are used by elite sports teams—and even in space missions.

Jason Esseboom, Founder and CEO of Joyned Capital, mentions, “Hytro is the kind of company we get excited about — simple, proven technology, already winning with elite teams, and a clear runway for global scale. The product has proven its value season after season. Backing Raj and Warren was a no-brainer.”
Scott Newall, co-founder and CEO of Skin In The Game, adds, “For decades, BFR was confined to the lab. Hytro has made it simple, scalable, and scientifically sound, and they’ve earned the trust of the best coaches and athletes in sport. Their momentum is only just beginning.”
Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training uses a strap to gently limit blood flow in the arms or legs during exercise or rest. This helps build muscle and strength more effectively than traditional workouts, while also boosting endurance without causing fatigue—ideal for pre-competition prep.

For recovery, BFR increases hormone release, clears out waste like lactic acid, and delivers nutrients to muscles. This can reduce muscle soreness by 47%, joint pain by 38%, and fatigue by 39%.
It also helps warm up muscles, improve joint mobility, and lower injury risk—making it a smart choice before training.
When combined with ice baths, Recovery BFR leads to 10% faster recovery, 12% less soreness, 14% less joint pain, and 23% more energy compared to using ice baths alone.
Founded in 2018 by Warren Bradley and Raj Thiruchelvarajah, Hytro offers a wearable Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) product that enables athletes, teams and individuals to easily integrate BFR into their routines. The device provides consistent, adjustable pressure without wires or batteries.
Hytro is used across top sports leagues like the Premier League, WSL, MLS, and NFL, and by national teams and athletes in rugby, cycling, cricket, F1, and tennis. It’s also widely adopted in rehab and performance settings by health professionals and fitness enthusiasts.
CEO and co-founder Raj Thiruchelvarajah mentions in a LinkedIn post, “This isn’t just an athlete-endorsed product. This is a business that athletes believe in, invest in, and grow with because they’ve experienced the impact firsthand.”
Thiruchelvarajah further adds that the “Revenue is growing fast — 80 per cent year-on-year growth driven by global demand across pro sport and colleges.”
