The funding round was led by Initialized Capital, with participation from Entrepreneur First, Transpose Platform, Behind Genius Ventures Alumni Ventures and Vento.

The company plans to use the funds to expand its team of scientists and engineers, accelerate development of its protein functionalization platform and speed up the commercialization of its first functional ingredients.

Led by co-founders Yash Khandelwal and Micol Hafez, The Bland Company uses a proprietary biochemical process to turn underutilized plant byproducts and agricultural side streams into functional proteins.

The technology provides food manufacturers with a stable, cost-effective alternative to animal proteins, addressing price volatility and supply chain risks in the global egg market.

The company is collaborating with food manufacturers to run pilot trials and validate its first protein solution for baked goods, condiments and confectionery.
