This is an inspiring story of OSAA Innovation, a startup founded by Ahmed Hessam— a Danish entrepreneur. His journey began with a disappointing experience, but instead of overlooking the problem, he turned it into an opportunity, starting a new chapter to bridge a crucial gap.
Founder of OSAA Innovation
Driven by a strong desire to address one of the most critical aspects of IV treatment, Ahmed Hessam —the founder and CEO of a multi-million-dollar worth company— is on a mission to improve patients' healthcare journeys and enhance the treatment results.
Born in Iraq, but at the age of 9 Ahmed moved to his second home, Denmark. His curiosity for developing smart solutions in overlooked areas emerged during his teenage years and led him to pursue an Industrial Design degree at the Zealand Academy of Technologies and Business. This education became the foundation of his entrepreneurial journey.
Bad Experience To Business World
The idea for OSAA Innovation born out of a disheartening experience.
When Ahmed was younger, once he spent a lot of time in the hospital. While hospitalized, he experienced firsthand the healthcare system and learned about what patients need. During one of their hospital stays, a heartfelt moment stuck a thought in his mind.
The moment was — A young girl was playing outside, but her mother was struggling to carry her IV bag. He felt frustrated as he saw traditional IV bags and poles made it difficult for the patient to move around freely. This disheartening experience stuck a question, "how can be solved this problem?"
Reigniting his curiosity for developing innovative solutions in overlooked areas, he embarked on his journey from bad experience to the business world to solve the problem.

Concept To Creation
Subsequently, when delving deeper into the research, Ahmed found that IV therapy is an essential part of modern healthcare, used in emergency rooms, operating rooms, and patient rooms to deliver fluids, medications, and nutrients directly into a patient's bloodstream.
About 90% of patients in hospitals receive IV treatment. Hospitals also need user-friendly, interconnected infusion systems that ensure patient safety, improve clinical workflows and allow medical staff to focus more on patient care.
Now, Ahmed was determined to change the landscape of IV treatments; the plan had been made, and the concept was ready, but turning the idea into reality was not a cup of tea. Working around the clock, brainstorming day and night, initial challenges, and a little fair about the decisions.
In 2009, aligning his passion and expertise for designing, engineering, technology, and business with his purpose, Ahmed created the first prototype of iV-GO® – a lightweight and portable 100% mechanical device that stands out for its unique feature - it allows patients to be mobile during treatments. Since then recognizing the challenges faced by patients, nurses and doctors, he kept working on this concept which laid the groundwork for the establishment of OSAA Innovation in 2016.
OSAA Innovation- Building A Future In Healthcare
Founded in 2016, OSAA Innovation is a Copenhagen-based medtech company revolutionizing IV treatment solutions in healthcare.

Challenges on the Road to Success
Being an entrepreneur is challenging every day, but a strong mission keeps the drive alive.
Adapting to rapidly changing market dynamics had been a big challenge in front of Ahmed. When he launched his company in 2016, at-home infusion therapy (where patients get treatments like IVs at home instead of in a hospital) was growing slowly. But as the years passed, the landscape shifted dramatically. By 2020, according to NHIA estimations, 974 providers in the U.S. were offering home infusion services to more than 3.2 million patients annually.
The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated this change, as hospitals needed to send patients home to reduce the risk of spreading infections. However, this created a new challenge—ensuring that treatments remained safe and effective outside clinical settings.
This shift became a turning point for Ahmad as healthcare professionals needed reliable tools to monitor patients remotely. However, he remained undeterred and just focused on creating portable, internet-connected, and seamless remote monitoring devices. They dedicated resources to developing innovative products that let doctors and nurses monitor patients remotely without needing to be there in person.
By embracing change, they turned obstacles into opportunities, proving that adaptability is key to success in the ever-evolving industries.
