StayDuo: The Greek Startup Redefining Safe and Smart Co-Living in Europe
Oct 11, 2025 | By Team SR

Athens, Greece — October, 2025
With rents surging and urban housing under pressure, co-living is fast becoming one of Europe’s most dynamic real estate trends. In Greece, a country where student mobility and digital nomad arrivals are growing, a new startup aims to bring structure and safety to the way people share homes.
StayDuo, founded in Athens, is building a digital platform designed to make shared living both predictable and transparent. Rather than focusing solely on listings, the company’s technology revolves around trust, compatibility, and clear agreements.
“Co-living should be simple, not stressful,” said Alexandros Deligiannis, CEO of StayDuo. “Our goal is to make roommate matching predictable — through verification, compatibility, and clear documentation.”

The platform uses AI-based lifestyle matching to connect users based on real habits rather than vague preferences. Filters cover practical areas such as cleaning routines, communication styles, schedules, and budgets factors that often determine whether co-living succeeds or fails.
Security is also embedded into the process. Profiles are verified using facial recognition and, for users who wish, criminal record checks with consent. Combined with in-app reporting and blocking tools, these features help maintain a safe and respectful community.
A digital approach to co-living agreements
StayDuo also introduces a digital roommate agreement, allowing users to define and sign terms such as rent shares, cleaning responsibilities, and notice periods directly within the app. The document remains accessible to both parties and helps avoid common misunderstandings around shared expenses or house rules.
This legal transparency is particularly relevant in Greece, where co-living is growing but still lacks unified regulation. By digitising the process, the startup aims to normalise fair and accountable tenancy relationships.
Accessible across languages and cultures
The platform supports eight languages : Greek, English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, and Vietnamese making it particularly relevant for Erasmus students, expatriates, and young professionals relocating to Greece and Cyprus. Whether a user is seeking student housing in Athens or a larger shared flat in Thessaloniki, the same compatibility-based approach applies.
Expanding to serve landlords
Beyond tenants, StayDuo is developing a Landlord Suite that enables property owners to manage listings, track payments, and oversee maintenance through one interface. Features include automated rent reminders, repair request management, and verified tenant profiles, reducing operational risk and administrative effort.
According to the company, this two-sided model helps balance the needs of renters seeking trust with those of landlords seeking predictability.
Preparing for growth and investment
Following its initial development and user testing in Greece, StayDuo is now preparing for scale-up and strategic investment. The team plans to extend its technology across Southern Europe and deepen its data-driven compatibility engine.
The startup is currently working toward Elevate Greece certification and exploring partnerships with universities and housing providers to reach the student and young professional market.
“We’ve validated the problem and proven the model,” Deligiannis added. “The next step is growth through smart partnerships and the right investors.”
