Snyk Developer Security Platform Acquires AI security Pioneer Invariant Labs

Invariant Labs is the creator of Guardrails—a transparent security layer for LLMs and AI agents. It helps developers and engineers add strong security protections to AI systems.

Their approach uses contextual data, static scans, runtime insights, human feedback and incident databases to detect and prevent threats.

With this technology, developers can monitor agent behavior, apply security rules, and scan MCP servers for vulnerabilities, making AI systems safer and more reliable.

“This acquisition is an important integration into Snyk’s recently launched AI Trust Platform that adds the ability to secure applications from emergent threats,” said Peter McKay, CEO of Snyk.

“Snyk can now offer customers a single platform to address both current application and agentic AI vulnerabilities.”

The acquisition of Invariant Labs marks a big step forward for Snyk Labs, the company’s research division focused on enhancing AI security through its AI Trust Platform.

Snyk notes that threats like unauthorized data leaks, AI agents taking unintended actions, and MCP vulnerabilities are already being seen in real-world use. Invariant Labs is leading research in this space, having even coined terms like “tool poisoning” and “MCP rug pulls” to describe new types of attacks.
