Ireland’s largest estate agency, Sherry FitzGerald, has received regulatory approval to acquire Knight Frank Ireland, marking a major milestone in Ireland’s property market.

Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has given the green light to the transaction, finding that it will not significantly impact competition in the market. A comprehensive decision will be released in due course.
Sherry FitzGerald operates 105 offices across Ireland, including 31 company-owned branches, and holds an estimated 15% share of the country’s residential property market. The group also owns the Simon Brien agency in Northern Ireland.

Knight Frank Ireland, which operates as HT Meagher O’Reilly Ltd and HT Meagher O’Reilly New Homes Ltd, is headquartered in Dublin and provides residential and commercial sales, lettings, valuations, and investment advisory services. The business will continue to trade under the Knight Frank brand.
The deal was notified to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) on 23 October 2025 and was cleared following a Phase 1 review.
The acquisition marks Sherry FitzGerald’s return to the commercial property market, having exited the sector in 2018 when it sold its remaining 80% stake in its commercial division to Cushman & Wakefield.
