SUMMARY
- Scoptvision is a company based in Leuven, has secured €1 million in funding to grow its smart charging technology for electric vehicles (EVs).
Their software can turn any EV charging station—no matter the brand or model—into a smart charging point. Unlike many competitors that rely on specific hardware, Scoptvision works with all types of stations.

Using a self-learning algorithm, the system figures out the best time, power level, and cost for charging. It balances user convenience with power grid demands, making charging more efficient, cost-effective, and reliable.

It also helps charging station operators reduce risks and improves the overall user experience.
“Our technology transforms any charger into a smart charger, regardless of the brand,” explains CEO Lars Cappelle.
“Our key advantage lies in the scalability and affordability of our solution, which is critical in the home charging segment. The control happens via the cloud, with no need for expensive local hardware.”
Scoptvision believes that energy management is often treated as a personal need, with users wanting more control. This has led to local solutions, usually built into the charging station itself. But Scoptvision sees this as a short-term approach.
They argue that the real value lies in collective control. As more EV charging points are added, they put more pressure on the power grid. Smart management can help reduce peak loads, support grid stability, and store extra renewable energy.
To support this, Scoptvision offers white-label software that charging providers can use under their own brand. This allows them to adopt smart charging now and avoid major system changes later.
“The energy transition requires not only sustainable generation but also smart control,” says Scoptvision.
“Those who proactively embrace collective energy management today will avoid costly downtime and grid overload penalties tomorrow. In addition, new business models emerge—without compromising end-user comfort.”
In 2024, Scoptvision’s smart charging technology was adopted by several partners, including Blossom (Telenet Group), Van Mossel Energy, Optimile, Road, and Energyking.
Supportive Belgian regulations—like the new capacity tariff and the removal of the reverse meter—helped speed up this adoption.
“We see Belgium as a frontrunner—what works here can be replicated elsewhere,” says CTO Kristof Borgions.
With its new funding, Scoptvision plans to take its smart charging software international—starting with the Netherlands and Germany.
For this round, the company partnered with JK Invest, a Belgian fund known for helping B2B SaaS companies grow successfully.
“We weren’t just looking for a financier—we wanted a partner who understands us and dares to build with us,” says CEO Lars Cappelle.
Belgium is becoming a key player in Europe’s energy transition. A fast-growing electric company car market and a complex energy pricing system are driving innovation and new solutions.
Scoptvision is based in Leuven, where it has been since April 2025 at De Hoorn. The city’s strong startup ecosystem and focus on climate initiatives make it the perfect place for Scoptvision to grow.
