SUMMARY

  • Sateliot has launched a new €100 million Series C funding round to support the rollout of its 5G satellite constellation.

The announcement was made during a visit to its Barcelona headquarters by Óscar López, highlighting strong institutional support for a strategic infrastructure aimed at strengthening Spanish and European digital sovereignty, with applications in both civil protection and defense.

The round, primarily equity-based with the option to include debt financing, is now open and expected to close by summer. Sateliot is seeking a lead investor while welcoming participation from both existing and new shareholders.

The company also expects up to 50% of the funding to come from public sources through a match-funding mechanism.

Most of the capital will be used to deploy 16 satellites, completing its IoT offering and demonstrating 5G New Radio capabilities, including voice, video, and data services. To date, Sateliot has launched six satellites and plans to send five more into orbit in 2026.

The company enters this funding round with €270 million in pre-signed contracts, serving more than 400 clients across 60 countries. It has also secured agreements with major telecom operators such as Telefónica and Deutsche Telekom.

Since its inception, Sateliot has raised close to €100 million from a range of industrial, institutional, and financial investors, including Indra, Cellnex, and Banco Santander, along with support from the European Investment Bank, which has played a key role in financing the company’s early technology deployment and growth.

Minister López supported the company’s growth plans and highlighted its achievements over the past year since SETT entered its capital: “Since then, Sateliot has doubled its workforce, closed €270 million in precontracts with companies in several countries worldwide, signed agreements with operators such as Telefónica, Deutsche Telekom, and VIVO in Brazil, and received the ‘Future Unicorn’ award from the Digital Europe association. Sateliot is an example of Spanish and European digital sovereignty. The Government of Spain is proud to finance a Catalan project that integrates the entire cycle of design, assembly, and control of satellites made in Spain.”

For his part, Jaume Sanpera, CEO of Sateliot, noted: “This Series C reflects the company’s scale and timing. It is the largest round we have opened to date. With it, we will accelerate the deployment of our constellation and commercial execution on a global scale. We trust in the support of industrial, financial, and institutional investors to consolidate a European 5G satellite connectivity infrastructure.”
