Mar 21, 2025 | By Kailee Rainse

Rerun, a company based in Stockholm that creates a data platform for Physical AI, has raised €15.6 million in Seed funding, bringing its total funding to €18.6 million.
The funding round was led by Point Nine, with support from Sunflower Capital and existing investors Costanoa Ventures and Seedcamp. Notable angel investors, such as Guillermo Rauch (CEO of Vercel), Oliver Cameron (CEO of Odyssey), Wes McKinney (creator of pandas), Eric Jang (VP of AI at 1X), and Nicolas Dessaigne (General Partner at Y Combinator), also joined.

Nikolaus West, Co-founder and CEO of Rerun said, "Most of the world’s GDP exists in the physical world, creating an enormous opportunity for Physical AI to transform our economy,” “But the current data stack wasn’t built for this new reality.”
The Rerun team is made up of experts in robotics, autonomy, drones, and data systems, with backgrounds at companies like Apple, AWS, Meta, Unity, Zenly, and Zipline. The team includes the creator of the rosbag format, key contributors to Apache Datafusion, and their CTO, Emil Ernerfeldt, who created egui, the largest open-source GUI framework in Rust.
Rerun is launching a new database and cloud platform built specifically for Physical AI data and workflows. This database can handle complex data like video streams, 3D scenes, and changing tensors over time.
Together with Rerun’s open-source visualization toolkit, this new data platform supports everything from monitoring to experimentation and training. The commercial version is being developed with select partners and will be available later this year.
West said, “Previously, everyone—from robotics to autonomous vehicles to AR— built much of their visualisation and data infrastructure in-house. But despite a lot of investment, even the biggest companies in the world weren’t happy with the results, We realised they were building on the wrong foundation. The old stack lacked performance and flexibility. Inspired by the flexible data models in gaming engines, we rewrote ours from the ground up in Rust.”
Rerun aims to fix these problems by integrating its flexible data model for Physical AI into the database. This provides teams with built-in visualization, better performance, and simpler, more flexible systems.
Moritz Schiebold, Co-founder and COO said, “All companies developing Physical AI are bottlenecked on speed of product development,” “There is a data flywheel in Physical AI. The smarter your system is, the more units you get to deploy, which allows you to collect more data to train on, which makes your system even smarter. Rerun helps teams run more experiments faster, which is the biggest lever on development speed.”
Ricardo Sequerra Amram, a partner at Point Nine said, “Rerun’s mission to build the multimodal data stack for Physical AI is wildly ambitious and we’re excited to support Emil, Moritz, Niko and team on their journey, Their work on open source has allowed them to gain the trust of some of the most ambitious companies in the world of Physical AI. As AI goes into the world of atoms, we believe Rerun can be the foundational platform enabling companies to build, iterate and ship better products continuously.”
The company plans to double its team by the end of the year, focusing on developing its commercial database and making the open-source project a bigger part of the Robotics and Physical AI fields.
About Rerun
Rerun is a tool (SDK) for creating time-aware visualizations of complex data. Engineers and researchers in areas like computer vision and robotics use it to verify, debug, and demonstrate their work.
