SUMMARY
- Stockholm-based deeptech startup Renasens has raised €10 million in a seed funding round led by Extantia, with participation from Course Corrected VC and continued support from Norrsken Launcher.
Renasens is tackling a major structural issue in the textile industry, where over 12 million tonnes of waste are generated annually in Europe, yet less than 1% is recycled into new fibres. Current recycling methods struggle to handle blended and treated fabrics, which make up the bulk of post-consumer textile waste.
The company aims to address this gap by enabling scalable fibre-to-fibre recycling, reducing dependence on imported virgin materials.

Its technology uses modified supercritical CO₂ to separate and decolour blended textiles, recovering intact fibres without relying on water or toxic chemicals. These recovered materials can be reintegrated into existing manufacturing processes without the need for new equipment. The system is also modular allowing it to be deployed across existing facilities within fragmented supply chains.
Renasens is already supplying recycled cotton and polyester fibres to factories in Portugal and Italy. This is happening as EU rules get stricter, including new textile collection systems in 2025 and planned responsibility rules for producers by 2027, which are increasing the need for better recycling solutions.
The new funding will be used to develop a pilot plant in Borås, Sweden, and support the company’s plans to supply recovered fibres directly into European manufacturing at scale.
Post-consumer textile waste has long been considered both technically and structurally unsolvable. We have developed a process that makes fibre recycling viable at industrial scale, and are now building the infrastructure and partnerships to support its adoption across Europe, said Dr Jade Bouledjouidja, founder and CEO of Renasens.
