SUMMARY

  • Credo Ventures has launched Credo Stage 5, an $88 million fund aimed at continuing its mission as the first backer of the most ambitious founders from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and their diaspora communities.

Founded in 2010 and based in Prague and Krakow, Credo Ventures invests at the earliest stages, focusing on exceptional CEE founders. The firm is strengthening its presence in the Pre-Seed niche, leveraging its track record, deep local networks, and distinctive investing culture.

The fund’s partners include Maciek Gnutek, Jakub Krikava, Max Kolowrat-Krakowsky, Matej Micek, Ondrej Bartos, and Jan Habermann. Over 15 years and across four funds, Credo has backed more than 100 companies, including two decacorns, and led pre-seed rounds for rapidly growing, category-defining CEE companies such as UiPath and ElevenLabs.

Credo Stage 5 continues the firm’s focus on first-cheque investments, supporting ambitious founders in CEE and its diaspora at the earliest stages of their ventures.

The firm emphasizes the size of the opportunity, noting a region of 170 million people with a combined GDP of $2 trillion and a strong history of producing top technical talent. Credo also highlights its early investments in breakout companies from Central and Eastern Europe.

“We partner with the best founders from CEE and its diaspora, being the first check in their companies. We seek serious technical builders with global ambitions and work closely with them.”

“CEE has already produced global outliers such as UiPath and ElevenLabs, where Credo was the first cheque and (co-)lead investor in both cases. While the ecosystem is maturing, fragmentation and cultural divergence remain significant barriers for outsiders creating a structural advantage for us.”

The firm highlights the CEE diaspora, especially in hubs like San Francisco and London, as a key advantage for sourcing ambitious founders and high-potential startups.
