SUMMARY

  • Pistachio is a cybersecurity startup from Oslo, has raised $7 million in Series A funding to grow internationally.

The round was led by Walter Ventures, with support from Idékapital, Angel Invest, MP Pensjon, and J12 Ventures.

Pistachio offers an automated training platform that helps companies teach their employees how to stay safe from cyber threats. Instead of using one-size-fits-all training, Pistachio uses AI to send personalized lessons and fake cyberattacks based on each person’s behavior and learning style.

The training runs quietly in the background through tools people already use, like email, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.

As cyberattacks become more advanced and personal, Pistachio helps businesses tackle one of the biggest risks—human error. The platform makes sure that training is always up to date, useful, and easy to remember.

The company, founded in 2019 and renamed from CYBR in 2023, now works with over 600 companies in 99 countries, including the University of St Andrews and The RiskPoint Group. It recently opened a new office in Valencia and plans to expand further into Europe and North America.

With the new funding, Pistachio will grow its AI features, hire more people, and strengthen its presence in key markets.

“Employees remain the most significant vulnerability in enterprise security, and ineffective training leaves organizations exposed to phishing attacks, social engineering, and other cyber threats,” says Joe Jones, co-founder and CEO of Pistachio.

“A staggering 40 percent of users fall for at least one of the first 15 phishing simulations through Pistachio. And with AI making it easier and cheaper to undertake social engineering attacks, we can no longer rely on ‘traditional’ security training, which has long been static and ineffective, failing to engage employees in meaningful ways. Pistachio was built to challenge that status quo, and this funding allows us to bring our vision to even more organizations globally.”
