Dublin-based HealthTech company Output Sports Secures €4.5 million in Pre-A Round Funding

Output Sports, a Dublin-based HealthTech company, has raised €4.5 million in a pre-Series A funding round.

New investors include Apex Capital, Uni.Fund, and Dopamine Sports, alongside existing backers Elkstone, Atlantic Bridge, and Enterprise Ireland. Angel investors such as Jim Kelliher (Drift, LogMeIn) also participated.

Dr Martin O’Reilly, Co-founder and CEO of Output Sports said, “Output Sports is committed to developing data-driven insights that support coaches and athletes, Our team has worked hard to build a platform that meets the needs of some of the world’s leading sports teams such as New Zealand’s All Blacks, England’s national soccer team and the Colorado Buffaloes and delivers meaningful value through data. This investment will help us support our growth in the US, deepen our technology capabilities, and grow our team to support our increasing customer base.”

Output Sports, a University College Dublin (UCD) spin-out founded in 2020 by Dr. Martin O’Reilly, Dr. Darragh Whelan, Julian Eberle, and Professor Brian Caulfield, helps over 800 sports organizations, including more than half of the English Premier League clubs, make data-driven decisions to enhance athlete performance.

Its all-in-one wearable sensor provides lab-quality data anytime, anywhere, simplifying athlete testing and tracking. Developed from 10 years of UCD research, the technology supports coaches, sport scientists, and rehab specialists in analyzing performance.

It is used in various sports, including football, swimming, basketball, and golf, for velocity-based training, strength measurement, and power development, helping athletes improve at all levels.

In 2024, Output Sports recorded 30 million athlete measurements worldwide and contributed to several Olympic medal wins, including Daniel Wiffen’s gold in swimming for Ireland and Zheng Qinwen’s historic tennis gold for China.

The company has also supported championship-winning teams in major US sports leagues and national teams in soccer and rugby sevens. The sports technology market, currently valued at €13.1 billion, is expected to grow by 20.5% by 2030 due to rising demand for biometric tracking, virtual and augmented reality, and AI-powered tools.

The new funding will help Output Sports expand in the US and grow its teams in sales, marketing, product development, data science, and customer support.

Output Sports aims to be a go-to tool for assessing strength, power, and movement, with a target of tracking 100 million exercise reps in 2025.
