Martijn Lukaart, CEO of Odd.Bot, says, “The demand for our weeding robots confirms that we are responding to an urgent need in the agricultural sector. We have chosen to deliberately limit our production capacity for the time being in order to guarantee high quality and excellent service, together with our local partners.”
Odd.Bot is growing internationally, with sales in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and France, reflecting the increasing demand for sustainable farming solutions.
CEO Lukaart adds, “The challenges in the agricultural sector, such as labour shortages and stricter regulations on agrochemicals, have led to a growing need for innovative technologies such as our weeding robots. In addition, Lukaart emphasises that government incentives contribute to the adoption of chemical-free weed control. Our robots not only offer growers a sustainable alternative, but also help them meet the changing demands in the sector.”
Odd.Bot is broadening its focus beyond weed control by using advanced AI and vision technology to create new applications. These innovations will help support more types of crops and allow traditional farmers to reduce chemical use after planting.
The company is also working with manufacturers to make its technology more widely available in agriculture.
This partnership aims to promote precision farming around the world, supporting sustainable practices and encouraging innovation in the agricultural industry.
About Odd.Bot
Odd.Bot, founded by Martijn Lukaart, has created an autonomous robot that removes weeds from crops, replacing manual and chemical weeding methods. The robot works day and night, efficiently detecting and removing weeds in dense, high-value crops without using harmful chemicals.
The company started from a project with the Technical University of Delft and RoboHouse in 2018. A student team developed the first prototype of the weeding robot, which was showcased in January 2019.
