SUMMARY
- London-based Nexcade, an AI automation startup for freight forwarders, has raised $2.5 million in pre-seed funding as it emerges from stealth.
The round was led by Connect Ventures, with MMC Ventures, Entropy Industrial Capital, Inovia, and angel investors, including Charlie Songhurst and Keith Wallington, participating.
Founded by Dan Bailey and Tasho Kjosev, Nexcade leverages agentic AI to streamline pricing, quoting, and rate procurement for logistics teams. Its AI agents extract unstructured work from emails and conversations outside the TMS, converting it into structured, automated workflows. This improves rate management, enhances win rates and provides better data visibility.
Freight forwarding remains heavily manual despite digital tools, with fragmented data from shippers, carriers, brokers and warehouses. Most automation fails due to inconsistent data and customer-specific requirements. Nexcade addresses this by unifying scattered inputs, handling exceptions and keeping critical workflows running, transforming reactive teams into proactive revenue drivers.

By capturing hidden information from endless emails and attachments, Nexcade reduces turnaround times from days to minutes, ensuring every quote request is answered and pricing decisions rely on data, not tribal knowledge.
With freight rates under pressure—revenues halved and margins near 5%—efficiency directly impacts profitability. Nexcade combines economic necessity with AI readiness, providing forwarders with a solution capable of automating exception-heavy workflows while protecting service quality and revenue.
CEO Dan Bailey emphasizes that while the TMS holds records, much of the actionable conversation never enters it. Nexcade fills that gap, reducing revenue leaks and improving service standards across freight operations.
Bridging that gap is the only way to unlock real automation and enable the revenue growth and operational resilience forwarders need in today’s market. Rates and contracts underpin freight forwarding, and are especially pertinent in the current environment. Starting here enables the biggest commercial impact for our customers while building the core grounding for future automation for our customers.
Looking ahead, Nexcade aims to grow its customer base tenfold within the next year, deepen partnerships with top forwarders to transform commercial workflows, and scale workflow volumes as adoption accelerates.
