SUMMARY
- Stockholm-based digital therapy provider Mindler, which offers fast, flexible mental health access across the UK and Nordics, has acquired Cambridge-based ieso Digital Health UK.
The deal combines two leading digital mental healthcare platforms, enhancing services for patients, employers, health insurers and public health organizations.
The acquisition covers only ieso’s UK telecare services; the parent company, ieso, remains independent, continuing to deliver evidence-based clinical AI mental healthcare under its own brand.
ieso Digital Health UK has supported over 145,000 NHS patients with online talking therapies and digital CBT and will continue its work within Mindler. All existing UK contracts—including one-third of England’s integrated care systems (ICSs) and a national Scottish contract—remain active, with patient data securely managed under NHS governance standards.

Demand for mental health support is rising. Between 2023 and 2024, around 3.8 million people used NHS mental health, learning disability, and autism services—a nearly 40% increase from pre-pandemic levels. Rethink Mental Illness notes patients are eight times more likely to wait over 18 months for mental health care than physical health treatment, while the British Medical Association reports 11.3% of full-time mental health roles remain vacant.
In contrast, a study by Mindler and Uppsala University found 88% of patients on Mindler’s digital therapy platform received timely care, and 86% felt supported in managing their mental health.
The expanded Mindler platform will integrate live and asynchronous therapy, combining Mindler’s pan-European reach with ieso’s AI-driven clinical tools and typed CBT model. This unified system aims to help healthcare services manage capacity, reduce waiting times, and deliver more personalised care.
Erica Larson, Group CEO at Mindler, said: “ieso’s work in the UK has set a gold standard for scalable, evidence-based digital therapy. We are thrilled to bring their expertise, clinical insight, and NHS relationships into the Mindler group. Together, we will offer the most comprehensive digital mental health platform in the UK – one that supports patients throughout their care journey.”
Kent Tangen, CEO at ieso said: “We’re proud to have supported thousands of lives through ieso’s UK telecare services. That legacy will always be a part of who we are. With those operations now in excellent hands at Mindler, ieso is committed to building the future we’ve long envisioned: delivering safe, effective AI-powered mental healthcare at scale. Our immediate focus is in the US, but our mission is global. As AI adoption accelerates, mental health is emerging as one of its most urgent and natural use cases. The market is moving fast, and so are we.”
This follows Mindler’s previous acquisitions of Finnish MedTech firm Medified and UK-based The Sandbox. The company is expanding its digital mental health services across Europe, focusing on accessibility, clinical excellence and innovative digital solutions.
