SUMMARY
- MESH, an ETH Zurich spin-off, has raised $3.8 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round to support its global expansion.
The round was backed by ABB Robotics Ventures, Apprecia Capital, Shimizu Corporation, Sika, buildify.earth, and Aargauische Kantonalbank.
Founded in 2022 and based in Aargau, MESH has quickly moved its technology from the ETH Zurich research lab into real-world industrial use. Its systems are already deployed in Swiss rebar shops and prefabrication plants helping automate complex construction tasks.
So far, over one million rebar elements have been processed using MESH technology for major infrastructure projects, including Switzerland’s Gotthard tunnel. The company shows that automation not only improves speed but also enhances safety by reducing manual, repetitive work and minimising errors through built-in digital quality control.

By partnering with industry leaders such as ABB Robotics, Shimizu Corporation, and Sika, MESH is gaining the expertise and global reach needed to scale its automated rebar solutions worldwide.
While construction design is highly digital, the actual building process is still largely manual and physically demanding. To address this gap, MESH has developed a software and robotics platform tailored for the rebar industry.
Its system enables construction companies to use industrial robots to handle, place, and assemble rebar automatically. Unlike traditional robots built for repetitive tasks MESH’s solution is flexible allowing robots to switch between different designs instantly without complex programming making rebar production more adaptable and efficient.
The funding will be used to drive international expansion, strengthen its presence in key markets, and develop new partnership models that make it easier for construction companies to adopt its technology, while also supporting team growth.
Marc Segura, President of ABB Robotics, comments: “We are delighted to be part of this transformative ecosystem and to support MESH in advancing automation for the construction industry. As the sector addresses labor shortages safety challenges and the need for greater productivity, automating rebar production offers a clear path for delivering faster fabrication, consistent quality and reduced material waste. Combining ABB Robotics’ expertise with MESH’s platform will bridge the gap between digital design and physical execution in construction projects and enable safer, more e5icient and reliable rebar production.”
Ammar Mirjan, CEO and Co-Founder of MESH, adds: “Securing the support of our partners and global leaders in robotics and construction is a pivotal milestone for MESH. Our vision is to bring the efficiency of the digital world to physical construction and this investment is a major step toward that goal. With this partnership, we are ready to scale our technology and make a lasting impact on how the world builds."
