Medly AI Raises €6.89 Million to Expand Its AI-Powered Exam Tutor Platform

Medly AI, a London-based AI learning company, has raised €6.89 million (US$8 million) in a Seed funding round. The company provides an AI-powered learning platform designed to help students prepare for exams.

SUMMARY

  • Medly AI has raised €6.89 million (US$8 million) in Seed funding.
  • The round was led by Felix Capital, with Eka Ventures, Ada Ventures and several angel investors participating.
  • Medly was founded by Dr. Paul Jung and Dr. Kavi Samra, who previously worked in the NHS.

Medly AI says its platform offers the world's first AI tutor built specifically for exam preparation. The AI tutor is designed to provide students with personalised support while they study.

The funding round was led by Felix Capital, with existing investors Eka Ventures and Ada Ventures also taking part. Several angel investors joined the round, including Andrey Dobrynin, Al Giles, Jean Hammond and Hector Mason.

Dr. Paul Jung, co-founder and CEO of Medly, commented, “Almost a third of 11–16-year-olds receive some form of private tutoring. For those who can afford it, it’s a powerful advantage. For those who can’t, it’s an equally powerful reinforcer of the status quo.

“We’ve built something to disrupt that. Our custom AI gives every child access to a 24/7 personal tutor that adapts to how they learn and responds to their unique needs. In just one exam season, the majority of students using Medly were able to improve by at least an entire grade – that’s a game-changer for young people. This capital will enable us to support even more students and prove that tailored academic help can come without a premium price tag.”

Medly was founded by Dr. Paul Jung and Dr. Kavi Samra, who studied medicine at University College London (UCL). The two founders first met when they were 11 years old during their first year of secondary school.

Both founders previously worked in the NHS before leaving their medical careers to build Medly. They wanted to create a more affordable way for students to get personalised learning support.

Private, in-person tutoring can be expensive, so Medly aims to make personalised education more accessible. Its AI tutor provides students with on-demand academic support at a lower cost.

As more students use AI tools such as ChatGPT for studying, Medly aims to offer a purpose-built and accuracy-tested AI tutor. The company says its platform is designed specifically for education rather than relying on general-purpose AI tools.
