Amsterdam-based Marktlink Capital has acquired a minority stake in Eleven, a U.S.-based tech company that helps private equity firms with global fundraising, investor relations, and support services.

SUMMARY

  • Amsterdam-based Marktlink Capital has acquired a minority stake in Eleven, a U.S.-based tech company that helps private equity firms with global fundraising, investor relations, and support services.

The investment was made using capital from Marktlink Capital and select private investors from its network.

This deal follows closely on the heels of Marktlink Capital’s recent €520 million raise for two of its investment funds, signaling continued momentum in its growth strategy.

“Eleven is distinctive because its platform isn’t owned by a major industry player, unlike many competitors. It’s therefore flexible and well-equipped to respond to opportunities and deliver customised solutions,” says Hylke Hertoghs, managing partner of Marktlink Capital.

Eleven, a U.S.-based company founded in 2009 by Eric Slaim, plans to use its recent investment from Marktlink Capital to grow its presence and partnerships in Europe. The funding will also help enhance the platform’s capabilities.

Eleven focuses on simplifying online fund administration for a variety of fund types, including hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, and real estate.

The company has had a long-standing relationship with Marktlink Capital, and according to the founder, this investment marks an important step toward building a more standardised and efficient system for managing the trillions in private capital invested worldwide.

Slaim says, “This allows us to further realise our vision together: to provide the world with the most powerful, scalable, and secure technology for private investments. In this way, we make investing in private markets more digital and accessible to everyone, both the world’s largest institutions and individual investors.”

Marktlink Capital is a Dutch investment firm focused on supporting entrepreneurs and private investors. It provides access to leading private equity and venture capital funds across Europe and North America through tailored fund structures.

Founded in 2020, the firm has raised over €2.5 billion, mainly from Dutch entrepreneurs and high-net-worth families. With a minimum investment of €250,000, Marktlink Capital aims to make private equity and venture capital more accessible.

The firm employs around 50 specialists with deep expertise in these markets. It operates as part of Marktlink, which has been advising on buying and selling small to mid-sized businesses since 1996.

“We are impressed by the platform’s flexibility and the portal’s user-friendliness,” says Hylke Hertoghs, managing partner of Marktlink Capital.

Hertoghs highlights the platform’s flexibility in supporting different legal structures, including Dutch entities like private limited companies (BVs) and limited partnerships (CVs), as well as other European fund setups. He also notes that the platform is easy to use for both Marktlink Capital staff and investors, making it accessible even to those without specialist knowledge.

Hertoghs adds, “The market for such platforms is growing. Not only because the number of funds is increasing, but also because the digitalisation of private markets is still lagging behind that of public markets. We’re now used to buying shares in an app, but large parts of the private markets still rely on paper or outdated systems.”
