SUMMARY
- Nuventura, a Berlin-based company specialising in SF₆-free medium-voltage switchgear, has been acquired by Lucy Electric, part of the Lucy Group.
This move strengthens both companies’ ability to support the global energy transition. With upcoming EU regulations banning SF₆ in new medium-voltage switchgear up to 24 kV from 2026, and expanding further by 2030, demand for sustainable and compliant alternatives like Nuventura’s technology is expected to grow significantly.
Nuventura, founded in 2017, develops environmentally friendly medium-voltage gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) for electrical grids and energy infrastructure.
Its patented technology replaces sulphur hexafluoride (SF₆), a highly potent greenhouse gas, with dry air while maintaining the compact size, safety and reliability of traditional GIS systems.
