Bondstone, a private equity firm based in Lisbon, has launched its new venture capital arm called Bondstone Ventures, along with its first fund, Maxwell Technologies I, focused on DeepTech startups.

The platform is fully regulated by Portugal’s financial authority (CMVM) and aims to invest in early-stage DeepTech and innovative technology companies, mainly in Southern Europe and other parts of Europe.
The first fund targets €50 million in investments from institutional investors and will support seed and early-stage startups working on advanced technologies.
Founded in 2016, Bondstone is a private equity firm that invests in real estate and venture capital across Europe. It manages a diversified portfolio with over €1 billion in development value.

Its real estate arm focuses on Portuguese property projects, including residential, logistics, hospitality, and mixed-use assets, handling everything from deal sourcing to development and management.
Its venture capital arm invests in early-stage DeepTech startups across Europe, including AI, computational biology, ClimateTech, and other advanced technologies. Both businesses operate under CMVM regulation in Portugal.
Bondstone Ventures is building strong partnerships with leading science and engineering universities to connect researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors. These collaborations aim to speed up the commercialisation of scientific innovations while keeping all stakeholders aligned for long-term success.
The firm has a team of 20 professionals with experience across multiple sectors and investment strategies. Co-founders Paulo Loureiro and João Pedro Silva both have backgrounds in physics before moving into finance.
Loureiro has worked at Morgan Stanley in New York and Schlumberger in Latin America and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Silva is a CFA charterholder with experience in banking, private equity, real estate, and venture capital across Europe.
Bondstone Ventures is also supported by experienced venture partners, including industry leaders from global tech companies. One key advisor is Luis Teixeira, who has over 20 years of experience in technology, ecommerce, and fashion.
