Paris-based climate tech startup Kumulus Water has raised €3.1 million in Seed funding.
SUMMARY
- Paris-based climate tech startup Kumulus Water has raised €3.1 million in Seed funding.
The company creates atmospheric water generators (AWGs) that turn air into clean, safe drinking water.
Their goal is to provide sustainable, local drinking water in areas facing water shortages or without reliable water systems.
Kumulus machines work by pulling air in through a top opening. The air first passes through a filter to remove dust and pollutants. Then, the air is cooled inside the machine until moisture forms like natural dew. This water collects inside and is sent to a storage tank.

The water goes through a special multi-step filter to remove germs and contaminants. After filtering, it passes over natural stones to add minerals, improving taste and health benefits.
The clean, mineralized water is stored in a tank and can be poured from an integrated tap.
The system runs on its own and can be controlled remotely via a mobile or web app. Users can check water levels, get maintenance alerts, and adjust settings based on the weather.
Each unit produces 20–30 liters of drinking water daily and can run on regular electricity or solar power. Built to work off-grid without infrastructure, Kumulus machines already serve schools, hotels, and communities in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. They are also ideal for remote work or camping sites.
The funding round included support from Bpifrance (through France 2030 SGPI and the Île-de-France Region), regional VCs like PlusVC, Khalys Venture, Flat6Labs, family offices from Europe and North Africa, leading startup founders, and Spadel, a top bottled water company in Europe.
"We're deeply grateful to our existing and new investors for their trust and continued support," said Iheb Triki, CEO and Co-founder of Kumulus.
"We are especially proud to welcome Spadel as a strategic partner — their long-term commitment to sustainability and innovation closely aligns with our values. Their involvement is a strong vote of confidence in our technology and our vision."
Clément Yvorra, Global Business Development Manager at Spadel, shared: "We believe the world needs complementary solutions to address the growing challenge of drinking water scarcity.
What convinced us is Kumulus' ability to produce water locally — without packaging or transportation — offering a truly sustainable alternative."
The funds are being used to speed up the development of Kumulus Boks, a new line of high-capacity water generators made for industrial and community use.
They will also help grow Kumulus’ presence in France, Spain, and Tunisia, and support the company’s expansion into Saudi Arabia, a crucial market in need of sustainable water solutions.
