Keey Aerogel funding news – UK-based Keey Aerogel Secures €18 Million in Series A Round Funding

I spoke with Francisco Ruiz and Mike O'Connor, it's sales director, to learn more. Traditionally, aerogel has been produced mainly in the United States and Asia, and it is both costly and harmful to the environment.

Ruiz said, “Today, the majority of aerogels are produced by a handful of American and Asian manufacturers using a synthetic derivative of silica, designed for specific industrial applications, at very high prices.”

Additionally, traditional aerogel is made through a precise process that uses solvents like carbon dioxide (CO₂) and ethanol, which are usually thrown away after use, harming the environment.

The new funding will help it build new production sites, grow its team, and expand its reach. The company plans to become the top producer of silica aerogel in Europe and the world’s first maker of green aerogel.
