SUMMARY

  • Treviso-based Faba, the startup behind a rapidly growing screen-free audio system for children, has raised €4.5 million to fuel its expansion in Spain—one of its key target markets.

The round was led by CDP Venture Capital, with Oltre Impact and Mediaset Group’s Ad4Ventures also participating, bringing total funding to €8.2 million since 2022.

“This investment marks a key moment in our internationalisation journey. We want to be present in Spanish households with a proposition that educates, entertains, and stimulates children’s imagination,” said Matteo Fabbrini, CEO and Founder of Faba.

Founded in 2019 and based in Treviso, Faba provides a screen-free entertainment solution for children aged 0 to 10. Its main products — FABA Cuentacuentos and FABA+are interactive audio devices that use physical figurines called “Personajes Sonoros” to spark imagination and language skills.

These figurines unlock access to 200+ audio experiences in Spanish, Italian, French, and English.

Faba is gaining strong traction across Europe, with over 370,000 families in Italy, Spain, France and Belgium using its products. In Spain alone, 30,000 families have adopted Faba since its 2022 launch. With fresh funding, the company aims to strengthen its market position and accelerate growth.

After generating €10 million in revenue in 2024, Faba targets €15 million in 2025. The team also plans to hire 20 more people by 2027, enhance its omnichannel retail presence and continue innovating its product line.

Unlike screen-based toys, Faba’s design removes visual distractions, focusing instead on immersive audio storytelling and hands-on interaction—a model praised by educators and researchers.

A study by the University of Trieste’s Department of Life Sciences found that 46% of children using Faba experienced notable improvements in language and cognitive development.

Faba has sold over 1.7 million Personajes Sonoros and earned recognition through awards like Toys Awards, Loved by Parents, and the iF Design Award—reinforcing its credibility in early childhood learning and entertainment.

Now present in over 2,000 retail stores across Europe, Faba’s unique mix of education, play, and tech positions it to potentially lead the Spanish market by the end of 2025.
