Greek Defence Tech Startup Delian Alliance Industries Secures $14 million In Series A Round

Based in Athens, the company is developing autonomous defence systems, including AI-powered drones and surveillance towers with advanced cameras and software.

Delian is entering a crowded defence market, competing with established players like BAE Systems and emerging startups such as Helsing, amid rising military spending across Europe.

The funding round was co-led by Air Street Capital and Marathon Venture Capital, with additional backing from 201 Ventures, HCVC, Entropy Industrial Capital, and Nebular.

Dimitrios Kottas, founder and CEO, said: “Our adversaries are arming themselves with emerging technologies at a rapid industrial scale.

“We’re in a race against time and should measure deployments in days, not decades. We’ve proven our systems in mission critical environments and will now ramp up production internationally."

Delian Alliance Industries says it combines advanced AI with commercial hardware sourced from allied nations to build its defence systems.

The new funding will help the company grow its engineering and field deployment teams to meet rising demand from NATO and other partners.

Founded in 2021 as Lambda Automata, the startup is based in Greece to benefit from lower operational costs. In 2023, it raised about $6 million from US and European investors, according to Bloomberg.

Founder Kottas previously spent five years at Apple, working on autonomous car technology within its Special Projects Group.
