The bus resale market is huge, with over 100,000 buses changing owners each year in Europe alone. However, the process has been slow and offline—until now.

Buses typically start in Northern Europe and move south, changing owners several times throughout their life. Countries like Italy, Poland, Germany, and Spain rely on buses, especially for tourism and rural areas. But buying and selling buses has been outdated.

Many bus owners don’t know how to sell their vehicles and often rely on brokers, leading to a system filled with hidden costs.

Filippo and Federico Battaglia, brothers with over a decade of experience in their family’s bus trading business, saw the need for change. They founded Fleequid in late 2024 to bring speed and trust to the market.

Fleequid replaces old-school methods with a modern platform where sellers can list their buses and buyers can bid in open online auctions.

Every bus has a complete dossier—photos, videos, condition reports, and technical inspections—verified by Fleequid’s experts. Once a deal is made, Fleequid handles everything, from payment to ownership transfer and transport.

“We’ve been in this world for 13 years,” said co-founder Filippo Battaglia.

“We know the players, we know the pain points, and we know how much value is lost in the current system. We built Fleequid to change that. We used to say no to 90 per cent of buses at Basco because we didn’t have a scalable way to resell them. Now, we can say yes to all of them.”

In its first few months, Fleequid sold hundreds of buses. Buyers from countries like Ghana, Romania, Iraq, and key EU markets such as Italy, Poland, and Bulgaria placed bids. This shows that the need for a faster and trusted solution is global.

DFF Ventures led the funding round, with support from other global investors, including Silence VC, FJ Labs, and angel investor Jack Greco, co-founder of ACV Auctions.

“We look for sharp founders tackling big problems in under-digitized markets,” said Maarten Engelen, Partner at DFF.

“The Battaglia brothers are insiders who’ve decided to disrupt their own industry, and they’ve done it with the kind of execution and grit we love to back. Fleequid is not just a better way to trade buses. It’s the start of a new operating system for the entire sector.”

This is DFF’s second investment in Italy, and the first for Silence VC and FJ Labs. With this new funding, Fleequid plans to expand more across Europe and continue developing its technology.
