SUMMARY
- Berlin-based AI healthtech startup FICUS Health has closed its seed round, raising €3 million alongside its previous pre-seed funding.
The round was led by European early-stage investor Redstone, with support from Merantix Capital and leading industry business angels.
Founded in 2024 FICUS Health offers an AI-powered platform designed to streamline medical documentation for rehabilitation clinics. The software automates critical workflows, improves information flow between physicians, therapists, and administrative staff, reduces administrative workload by up to 70%, and enables clinical teams to focus on patient care.
Built to the highest security and data protection standards, including ISO/IEC 27002, all patient data is processed exclusively in Germany.

The company is led by founders Benjamin Pochhammer (CEO) and Dr. Mario Elstner (CTO), who bring extensive experience in technology, healthcare, and AI product development.
According to Pochhammer, FICUS Health’s mission is not only to save time for clinical staff but also to fundamentally improve the efficiency and quality of rehabilitation clinic operations.
AI is the key lever to relieve operational workflows, optimise cost structures, and at the same time improve the quality of care. In this way, we support both medical staff and decision-makers who aim to shape their facilities in a digital and economically sustainable way.
Market demand highlights the need for AI-driven solutions. FICUS Health is already collaborating with nearly 100 rehabilitation clinics across Germany, processing over 100,000 medical documents in under nine months, with around 1,000 professionals using the system daily.
Europe’s aging population, a shrinking healthcare workforce, and up to 1.8 million unfilled healthcare positions in Germany by 2035 are driving increased demand for rehabilitation services. Clinics face rising costs, tight budgets, and heavy documentation workloads administrative tasks consume about one-third of working time. Even reducing paperwork by an hour a day could free thousands of professionals for direct patient care.
With the new funding, FICUS plans to expand its AI platform, develop applications covering the entire patient journey, and ensure interoperability with existing systems. The company will also strengthen its organizational structure and grow its presence across the German-speaking market.
