SUMMARY

  • Tartu-based cleantech startup Soldera has secured €1.6 million in non-dilutive funding from the Estonian Enterprise Agency to develop AI powered infrastructure that unifies Europe’s fragmented renewable energy certificate registries. This comes shortly after surpassing €1 million in annual revenue in 2025.

The grant will support deeper product development, automation across 30+ national registries, and team expansion as Soldera addresses a market still reliant on manual, country-by-country processes.

The funding follows an oversubscribed €2.5 million raise led by Lifeline Ventures, Alumni Ventures and Lemonade Stand, reflecting growing investor confidence in Soldera’s mission to boost revenue for renewable energy producers, improve transparency for corporate buyers and strengthen European energy security through a unified certificate management platform.

Soldera automates the management, trading, and retirement of renewable energy certificates, connecting buyers and producers through a single AI-driven platform. Europe’s certificate market spans 30+ national registries, many still relying on spreadsheets or paper with account setup costing up to €5,000 per country annually and transactions handled via email or phone conditions Soldera calls “a commodity market stuck in time.”

By unifying registry access and automating certificate flows Soldera aims to boost revenues for renewable energy producers, improve transparency for corporate buyers and channel investment into local renewable projects while strengthening Europe’s energy security. The company’s growth signals strong market readiness.

In 2025 Soldera scaled revenue from €150,000 to €1 million achieving 30% month over-month growth. Its platform serves Fortune 500 companies a top-20 global asset manager and over 500 corporate buyers across 15+ regions connecting them to more than 4,000 renewable power plants. Multiple registries are consolidated into a single dashboard, with AI executing purchases and retiring certificates autonomously.

“We’re set to capture a $13B market on track to hit $80B by 2030,” said Stenver Jerkku, Founder & CEO. “This fully depends on onboarding A-players and AI progress. We only hire the best and our dream is building a billion dollar company with less than 30 people.”

Soldera plans to use the €1.6 million grant mainly for applied research and product development, while expanding its 11-person team across engineering, product, and go-to-market roles. The company’s trust-based, low-hierarchy culture has attracted talent from firms such as Bolt, Trimble, LHV and Glia.

“We’ve built an ethos of continuous improvement,” writes Oliver Bonallack, Growth Marketer at Soldera. “It’s a complex industry, so there are no stupid questions. And with such a high density of talent and focus, nobody has the time to breathe down your neck. You know your priorities and are given the freedom to execute”.

As regulatory pressure increases on corporates to decarbonize and demand for high-quality renewable certificates rises, Soldera is focusing on infrastructure not just marketplaces to drive Europe’s next energy transition. With new non-dilutive funding and strong commercial momentum the company aims to transform one of Europe’s most fragmented climate markets into a unified automated and scalable system.
