Better Medicine, a Tartu-based startup from Estonia focused on AI-driven diagnostic solutions for radiology, has secured €1 million in Pre-Seed funding.

The funding round was led by Soulmates Ventures and included contributions from Specialist VC, UT Ventures, and several angel investors.

The company plans to use the funding to scale its operations and advance its research and development initiatives.

Headed by CEO and Founder Priit Salumaa, Better Medicine is a medical AI startup creating CE-certified software to assist in cancer detection and diagnosis for radiology. Its BMVision platform seamlessly integrates into radiologists’ workflows, initially focusing on detecting and measuring kidney lesions.

Better Medicine has a global team spanning six countries, combining expertise in medical practice, research, computer science, and startup development.

Its flagship product, BMVision Kidney, recently earned CE certification as a Class IIa medical device under EU MDR 2017/745, becoming the first CE-certified AI tool for kidney cancer detection compliant with the regulation.

Better Medicine has established clinical collaborations with institutions such as Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Tartu University Hospital, Tartu University, and Pärnu Hospital, among others.

Combining private investments and grants, the startup has raised €2.25M in private funding and €3.7M in grants, bringing its total funding to nearly €6M.
