The funding round was led by Carglass® Estonia, business angels from Lithuania and Slovenia, current investors, and a grant from the Estonian applied research program.
According to Rauno Sigur, CEO of DriveX, there is a growing need for sustainable solutions. “Handling glass damage is our next step in making vehicle repairs more economically and environmentally fair. Looking ahead, I see significant waste and inefficiencies in the repair of other assets as well, such as buildings or consumer electronics. The European Parliament’s ‘Right to Repair’ initiative is providing strong momentum for creating a sustainable future, and we aim to become a leader in this space,”.

It says that glass damage makes up 40% of all vehicle insurance claims, which is why they're focusing on this area. Their solution helps insurance and repair companies allow customers to assess damage themselves. With AI, the system decides whether to repair or replace the windshield, ensuring the right decision is made.

This approach leads to more repairs and fewer unnecessary windshield replacements. Repairing small cracks is 10 times cheaper and creates 1000 times less waste than replacing the whole windshield.
So far, it has mostly worked with insurance companies, offering smart imaging for vehicle risk assessments. Last year, they added AI-based windshield damage detection, which helped them expand their reach and support partners like Carglass® Estonia.
Sven Freiberg, CEO of Carglass® Estonia said, “DriveX helps us reduce labor costs and enhance the customer experience with its smart remote solution. Our bookings are more accurate, and spare part management is smoother – for example, we don’t need to order a new windshield if the damage is repairable. Additionally, DriveX’s solution improves transparency in our processes and enhances trust among key customers,”.
DriveX plans to work closely with repair shops and insurance companies to help them become more efficient and gain a competitive advantage. Their solution is expected to launch in more countries this year thanks to its accurate and flexible features.
The team also wants to strengthen their edge in the market, as feedback from industry leaders shows growing interest and specific needs.
To automate damage assessment, DriveX uses AI to understand different aspects of the damage. Assessing the size of damage in 2D has been a challenge, but they will now test this in both labs and real repair shops.
Sigur said, “Thanks to the grant, we can accelerate our research and development, create new patents, and secure our position as a global market leader, The startup aims to reach hundreds of insurance companies across 40 countries and has already taken its first steps into Western European markets."
