dottxt Funding News – dottxt raises $11.9M funding to enhance LLM interaction

Rémi Louf, Dan Gerlanc, and Brandon Willard are co-founders who have collaborated in different roles for the last four years. Their last job at Normal Computing, an AI company based in New York, was where they first encountered problems with GPT-4, particularly with systemising data and information extraction to eliminate a significant amount of manual labour.

The team's unique background in compiler technology and statistical modelling allowed them to come up with a solution to this problem that no one else has been able to.

Over 3 million downloads of the code they made public have been made in the past year, with 600,000 of those downloads occurring in the past month. Both small and major businesses use it in their production.

The money is divided into two phases: a $3.2 million Pre-Seed round headed by European tech and deep tech venture capital firm Elaia, which was finished in December 2023; and a Seed round, which was led by EQT Ventures and ended in August 2024 for $8.7 million.

Seedcamp, Common Magic, Kima, FSJ, Roxanne Varza (Station F), Erik Bernhardsson (CEO of Modal Labs), Julien Chaumond (CTO of Hugging Face), Bob van Luijt (CEO of Weaviate), and Jean-Louis Queguiner (CEO of Gladiate) are additional participants in the two investment rounds.

From our first discussion with dottxt, we saw their potential to turn the stochastic nature of LLMs into something more programmatic and deterministic, enabling deep integration into software systems. This aligns with our belief that the future of AI agents will be shaped by those who can build the essential frameworks that make LLMs truly usable at scale in critical enterprise systems. We’re excited to support dottxt as they lead the creation of this critical infrastructure.

The money will go towards hiring a Chief of Staff, growing the team, and hiring more software developers. The team now has nine members, including six new hires who will work to spread the word about dottxt's technology and get it in front of developers and businesses alike.
