SUMMARY

  • Swedish digital privacy startup Dold Adress has raised €1.8 million in what it describes as an unusually large angel round.

The company aims to use the funding to expand its tools that help individuals and employees remove personal information from the internet. The investment comes entirely from private angel investors, not institutional venture capital firms.

Notable backers include John Daniels, former head of security for the Swedish Armed Forces, billionaire entrepreneur Magnus Emilson, and board member Anders Holm.

In the words of Founder Filip Landgren, “We are extremely proud to have raised 20 million [Swedish Krona] in such uncertain times, without having to bring in VC or issue preference shares. The interest from heavyweight angels demonstrates the strength of our vision and product.”

The platform helps Swedish users remove their personal information from popular online directories like Mrkoll.se, Ratsit.se, Merinfo.se, and Hitta.se. It also offers dark web monitoring and data removal services for those worried about identity theft or harassment.

The need for such services is growing, with over 500,000 Swedes reportedly facing harassment each year and more than 3 million dealing with identity theft attempts or fraud. Dold Adress operates under its parent company, Alpha Securities, and is focused on helping users take back control of their digital presence.

Based in Stockholm, the company currently serves over 1,200 locations in Sweden. It claims to have removed more than 1 million links from search engines like Google and identified over 100,000 cases of exposed personal data on the dark web.

Although Dold Adress has so far avoided traditional venture capital funding, co-founder Filip Landgren indicated that future investment rounds could include VC firms if the conditions are right.

“We thought we would leave the door open for VC investors as latecomers, but thanks to our angels, we are already in a strong position. Now we are fully focused on moving forward,”Landgren said.

For those who want more privacy, safety, or peace of mind online, Dold Adress offers an easy-to-use, GDPR-compliant way to take back control of their personal data.
