SUMMARY
- Ostrava-based startup Edmund has raised €2.5 million to expand internationally and further develop its AI-powered debugging platform for industrial maintenance.
The round was led by FORWARD.one, with participation from University2Ventures and Tensor Ventures.
Founded in 2023 by Jakub Szlaur, Benjamin Przeczek, and Miroslav Marek, Edmund is a Czech startup building an AI-powered platform for troubleshooting industrial production lines.
Its system helps maintenance teams quickly identify root causes and resolve issues in minutes by unifying PLC projects, technical documentation, and operational data.

The platform also captures and structures internal maintenance knowledge into a shared log, allowing expertise to be preserved and reused across teams.
Edmund targets growing challenges in manufacturing, where increasing system complexity and a shortage of skilled engineers are creating operational strain.

The company highlights that many engineering roles in Europe remain unfilled, while a significant share of the workforce is approaching retirement, increasing reliance on fragmented and outdated knowledge systems.
To address this, Edmund uses AI agents to connect documentation, machine data, PLC systems and maintenance logs into a single operational layer designed for factory environments. It enables technicians to diagnose faults, understand root causes and follow guided repair steps efficiently.
The company is already working with major manufacturers and reports strong efficiency gains, including up to 90% faster diagnostics and a 26% reduction in downtime. At Amcor Flexibles, its system reduced average repair times by 26%, saving approximately 440 working hours per factory each year.
With the new funding, Edmund plans to expand its team, accelerate product development and grow its presence across European and US markets. The company aims to advance its platform toward fully contextual, AI-driven troubleshooting and diagnostics for industrial operations.
“The real challenge is not a lack of data, but a lack of context. We’re building AI agents that understand how machines actually work, down to the PLC project level, so instead of searching through documentation or waiting for experts, engineers can act immediately,” said Jakub Szlaur, co-founder and CEO of Edmund.
“Edmund is solving one of the most overlooked challenges in industrial maintenance: how knowledge is transferred and applied under pressure. Their approach has the potential to become a foundational layer for modern manufacturing,” said Beau Anne-Chilla, Partner at FORWARD.one. co-founder and CEO of Edmund.
