He brings extensive experience in partnerships and operations across the financial services sector. Garland joined Currensea from Dealstack, a technology platform for private equity professionals, where he served as Head of Operations.

Previously, Garland spent nearly a decade working in the loyalty and partnerships sector, including more than three years at American Express, where he oversaw product strategy and international loyalty partnerships. His appointment follows Currensea’s recent partnership with Marriott Bonvoy and Mastercard to launch two co-branded multi-bank debit cards for Marriott’s UK customers, enabling cardholders to earn loyalty points on everyday spending.

This marks Currensea’s second major co-brand agreement, following the introduction of two loyalty debit cards with Hilton in September 2024.

Garland’s arrival will support Currensea’s continued efforts to expand its portfolio of co-branded partnerships in the years ahead.

Founded in 2018 by James Lynn and Craig Goulding, Currensea is a payments technology company that provides co-branded cards and a travel spending card to more than 200,000 customers.

Its platform enables consumers to earn rewards as they spend and allows them to use their existing bank accounts for overseas transactions.
