SUMMARY
- Copenhagen-based impact startup Contribe, which lets consumers support charitable causes while shopping online, has raised an additional €433K in its pre-Seed round.
This brings the company’s total pre-Seed funding to €1.3 million, aimed at taking its concept global. Investors include Rockstart, Human Act Development, and Better Future Fund.
“We’re seeing significant demand in the market – especially from end users who, perhaps surprisingly, are increasingly motivated by the opportunity to make a difference,” says Christoffer Bouet, CEO and Co-founder of Contribe.
These investments highlight the ongoing investor appetite for startups that combine technology with measurable impact and customer-focused innovation. Alongside Danish companies like Understory and MEGA, Contribe’s funding underscores Denmark’s emergence as a hub for purpose-driven, scalable tech ventures creating a strong backdrop for the company’s international growth ambitions.

“We’ve proven that the model works for everyone. End users are happy, our clients grow their revenue, and NGOs gain more resources,” says Bouet, adding: “There’s nothing holding us back anymore. The next step is to take Contribe global and build a product that can define a whole new category within loyalty and e-commerce – with the vision that every purchase in the future contributes to a good cause.”
Founded in 2023 by Christoffer Winther Bouet, Tobias Ørskov Madsen, and Lasse Viggo, Contribe helps webshops boost sales and customer loyalty through charitable donations at checkout.
The software allows customers to donate a percentage of each purchase to a cause at no extra cost, resulting in higher conversion rates, stronger loyalty, and increased revenue for webshops, while NGOs receive more funding for their work.
Contribe now reaches over 1 million users and works with nearly 400 webshop clients across 15 countries. In 2024, Danes donated DKK 7.6 billion to charitable causes, up 8.4% from the previous year, showing a strong desire to make a difference. Contribe’s growth reflects this trend, having quadrupled its customer base and expanded from 6 to 15 markets over the past year.
With new investment, Contribe is preparing for its next phase focusing on global scaling, product development and team expansion. Earlier in 2024, EU-Startups reported on Contribe’s €1 million pre-Seed round, which helped businesses connect with sustainability-minded consumers.
