The Knotty Ones, a company based in Lithuania and New York, was started by three best friends who wanted to make the perfect knit while also helping less fortunate women in their community. They support independent female artisans and female-founded factories in rural Lithuania to create their knitwear, giving them a voice in their communities and financial independence. They also take sustainability very seriously, using only natural and 100% biodegradable yarns that are fantastic for the environment as well as for your wardrobe. Crafted by Northern moms, mostly stay-at-home moms, they employ craftswomen in Lithuania, mostly from small towns and villages where jobs are extremely scarce. They ensure that these women receive fair wages and can support their beautiful families. Their pieces are meant to last a lifetime and are made to be cute and incredibly sustainable. Inspired by old-school local crafts, they focus on Northern aesthetics, natural materials, and ethical manufacturing.
